Last week I did a canvas gallery wall for my grandparents, who are almost 95 and 96 and recently had to move into an apartment because the multiple stairs in their Pennsylvania farmhouse became too much. It was a tough transition for them because their farm is beautiful (I’ve posted some farm life pics here and here) and it was their way of life, so I thought some farm and family photos would help bring the farm to them!

They aren’t allowed to use nails in their apartment so I decided to go with 3M Command strips and Pear Tree’s canvas that folds into a box without wood. They are super light so not as much of a fall risk. However, a couple of my photos were too big so I got a couple of Mpix foam-mounted standouts as well. They are a little more expensive and a little heavier, but they still worked. Both of these are great options for inexpensive, lighter canvas options.
I started by configuring the canvases on the floor and then used paper towels and scotch tape to map it out on the wall.
I started with hanging the four in the center so I could more easily place the three on the sides.
They didn’t have a level so I used an app on my phone to make sure they were straight.
Once I was done with the center, I did the two on the top/bottom sides, and then centered the third in the middle.
And repeated on the other side.
Nana will probably not be happy that I posted a picture of her, but she looked so pretty in her Sunday best!

Oh I love this for so many reasons! 95 and 96 years old?! What a special couple. Nana is adorable 🙂 And of course I love the PA farm pics. Takes me back 🙂 What a thoughtful project for you to put together!
