Cupcake Gender Reveal

Kids Parties, Party

I guess it’s time to announce my pregnancy since I’m 17 weeks. Life has slowed down while my husband has been in and out of the hospital for the last six weeks. Today we’re on day 30, and we decided to do something besides the usual staring at each other and doctor visitations. Well, we still have the doctor visitations, but why not work on something fun? Yes, he’s in the hospital, but we still have a lot to be thankful for.
My sister took these pics a few weeks ago for the annoucement. Our biggest challenge was getting the monkeys to stay still.
Because I’m 35 and “high risk,” I had to option of getting the new genetic/gender blood test at 10 weeks. At first we thought we would wait for the 20 weeks ultrasound to get the gender results, but the planner in me won out. But, I still wanted to do something fun so we took the sealed envelope with the results to a bakery.
The boys loved this because they got to snack on a cupcake while we waited for our blue or pink cream-filled cupcakes.

Aunt Julissa was pretty worried. She could barely hold the envelope with the results on the way to the bakery.

Then we got the box…blue or pink inside?

My father-in-law was also in town because of my hubby’s surgery and right before the big bite, he said, “What’s the prediction?” And I responded, “It’s a boy. Schaefers only make boys.”

And then I was shocked…I never imagined there would be pink inside. It was so surreal I couldn’t even get excited at first.
Hubby was happy about Baby Girl, too, but he wasn’t as surprised.

Aunt Julissa was relieved and excited. She texted my brother and said, “We’re having a niece!”

JJ already knew that he was going to have a sister, so he was just more interested in finishing his cupcake.
Ethan decided to dip into both the chocolate and vanilla cupcakes. Why not?

It was so fun that Grandpa could be here for the cupcake reveal, too. He was happy and immediately called GiGi.

No one is as excited as this mama though!
I was nervous about not going the ultrasound route because I thought I would miss the “It’s a …” during the 20 week ultrasound, but I actually liked the cupcakes better because the boys could be involved along with my sister and FIL. It was such a special day.

I've got a huge smile on my face that won't go away from reading your fun news : ) Seriously, happy chills ran through me as that pink frosting was spotted and I saw that winning expression on your face. Priceless! Such a fun way to find out and loved reading all about it and seeing the photos to feel a part of the big reveal. Congrats! Now get out there and get shopping for some pink! So is it too soon to start planning an arranged marriage for Micah and your little girl? Just kidding (kind of….).

Loved your message, Kari! I'm so behind in my correspondence, but LOVED your birth announcement of Micah. He's seriously the cutest baby I've ever seen. I say it's never too early for an arranged marriage. 😉
