Holiday Treats

Holidays, Winter

My friend told me she’s making fudge this week and asked if we’re supposed to stop baking treats after Christmas. Well, of course not…never stop baking treats! So here are some treat ideas for next year’s holidays. Or right now.
Each year my sister and I pick out way too many recipes and crank them out on Christmas Eve. This year’s line-up:
  • Cherry Chocolate Kisses from The Curvy Carrot
  • Holiday Peanut Butter Cookies from Recipe.com
  • Same Oreo Truffles that I made for Rachel’s tea party shower. My recipe is a little different – I use candy melts and put toothpicks in before refrigerating. If you want the tips, you can check out the link.

This year a few of us had the stomach flu, so she flew solo for the first time, and she did an awesome job!
She also made Nutter Butter Snowmen from Brown Eyed Baker
It was big hit with the boys. Super easy, too.
My mom and I worked on the pie. Well, mostly my mom because I was out most of the day. We haven’t made a pie in a few years and my husband likes cherry so we went with Cherry Berry Pie from Recipe Newz.
It was pretty yummy and the crust was buttery. I’m not as crazy about butter as Paula Dean, but I like a good butter crust.
Like I said, I can’t get enough of baked sweets, so a week before Christmas we invited some friends over for some Christmas cookie fun.
Every Christmas cookie party should start with some sprinkles towers.

I used the vanilla almond sugar cookie from Bake At 350.  The cookie and icing recipes were on Pioneer Woman’s post. She researched the best sugar cookie recipe and had a big baking party with the Bake At 350 baker. Her post was pretty awesome – we did the awesome kid version.

There was a lot of icing tasting.
More towers, of course.
And some preferred only the sprinkles with a touch of icing.

Then I look over to see this. Gotta love it.

The boys ate most of theirs, but we had a few leftover that the moms made.

I will still be making treats, but I will definitely be missing some of these images. Until next year!

Happy New Year!

So much fun! My favorite pics are the sprinkle towers, E's sprinkle pile and Aiden shoving the icing knife in his mouth. Not the safest, but the tastiest!

Haha, Rachel! It was a plastic knife. No biggie. 😉
