Toddler Room Unicorn Makeover {One Room Challenge, Week 4}

DIY, Room Design

We just got back from Austin (wedding, visiting my little bro and a trip to Magnolia Market!) so I didn’t get much done with my toddler room ORC this week, but I was able to start on the unicorn makeover for the reading corner.

To recap, this is what I’ve accomplished so far:

Week 1: The plan

Week 2: Painting

Week 3: Scallop border, starting closet organization and more decisions

I got this Pillowfort unicorm from Target (on sale!) and decided give it a Pinkalicious makeover because my daughter loves Goldilicious.

I got the supplies from Hobby Lobby. The flower garland was in the wedding section for 50 percent off, and I got the gold ribbon after Christmas for additional clearance.

I used a little hot glue to wrap the horn with gold ribbon.

Then I untied all the mane knots and hot glued the thicker gold ribbon.

Then I did some trimming to thin it out, and added some of the thinner ribbon.

And just like Pinkalicious did in the story, I added some flowers to the mane.

And then I tied the garland around her neck and wah-la!

Although for some reason it doesn’t seem quite finished…I may have to add something cream or gold to the flowers, but I’m going to wait until I finish the reading corner to make that call. 964A3416

Just picture the gold “READ” letters and three rain gutters underneath. I bought the gutters and spray paint at Lowes today, so I’m ready to tackle that this weekend.

Can’t believe there are only two weeks left. Eek! Don’t forget to check out what the other participants are doing this week.
