I don’t like waste. So when our movers packed our boxes with three million sheets of packing paper, it was a problem. What would we do with it all?
Obviously, we had to put a lot of it in the recycling bin over several weeks, which drove me nuts because it was sitting around. When I complained to my aunt she told me that she often reused it when she cut my uncles hair or whatever. I’m not cutting hair, but that gave me an idea.
So I kept a stack (as tall as me) in our “packing area” in the basement and I’ve used it to put on the table during crafts. Later I went to pick out some wrapping paper for a birthday gift, and it hit me: the boys could create their own wrapping paper.
They had a lot of fun with it. I threw on some ribbon, created a tag out of card stock, and used a scrapbooking sticker and a stamp to finish it off.
I love a fun activity for the boys while recycling.
