I’ve done nothing with my daughter’s room since we moved here a year ago so when I saw that Linda from Calling It Home was hosting the spring #oneroomchallenge this month, I decided it was the perfect time to get going!
If you haven’t heard of One Room Challenge, she invites 20 designers, as well as other bloggers to join (guest participants, such as myself), to transform a room and share progress over five weeks. This week’s theme is to share the space and design plan.
And right now my daughter’s room situation is scary, but here it is.
I could do anything to this room and it would be an improvement, so it’s pretty low pressure. BTW, there isn’t normally a ladder in there – I was preparing to paint.
My daughter was only in her nursery a year before we moved, so there are some things I’m going to reuse, but since she’s now two I’m going to give it a color refresh with some blush and gold, and convert it into a quasi toddler space. I say “quasi” because it will still have a crib, gotta use that contained space crib as long as possible, right?
I will carry over over a few things, like this PBK chair and chandelier. (It was fun to see her nursery featured under “share your style” when I looked these up!) 🙂
I was in desparate need of a rug when we moved in so I got this one since it was fairly neutral, and now it’s not available so I guess I didn’t make a great call on that one, ha!
For the walls, I’m going with “blush” from RH Baby & Child and I will use a darker shade on the ceiling.
I’ve been buying things here and there, and I started with this Janie & Jack blush and gold dress. She wore this for Easter last year and it will go perfectly. And when I saw the ballerina one was on sale…that was a necessity. I might hang one on this hook or frame them, haven’t decided yet.
The heart was a DIY and I found the frame and “E” at Home Goods and Marshalls.
I will put those decals on the crib wall or the ceiling, haven’t decided yet. I found the bows at HL, on Christmas clearance. No idea what I will do with them, but I liked them. I found the gold brackets at an antique market.
I picked up this mirror at a consignment shop – I will probably give it a paint refresh with some gold.
I’m also going to use a few things from her first birthday party and her newborn hat. This is also a sneak peek of her RH Baby and Child bedding.
She is obsessed with Goldilicious so I’m going to create a themed reading corner, most likely with some IKEA spice racks to store the books.
First task is to paint the walls, ceiling and border, I’ve got some ideas for some hand painting. Maybe I will even have time to finish the decals, wish me luck! I’m excited to get started and can’t wait to share with you as I go along. Follow along on Instagram for sneak peeks and be sure to check out the other ORC guest participants!

I was excited! They asked my permission, but I didn’t know where it was, haha.
