Cousins Handprint Tee

Holidays, Summer

I’m working on posting my nursery DIY, but I had to share this cute summer crafting idea first.
My friend Rachel went on a family vacay recently and she and her sister-in-law organized a cousins handprint tee shirt activity. Such a fun and cute idea to craft together and memorialize the trip! And she claims she’s not crafty…hmmmm.
The supplies…

Their trip was over the Fourth of July so they used patriotic colors.

It’s easier to use sponges to paint on the hand rather than letting them dip their hand directly in the paint. Dipping is probably more fun, but it becomes very gloppy when they transfer and press.

Rachel wanted to give her son some artistic leeway but, if you want, remind the kiddos to spread out their fingers when they press.

It’s good to help them with the press to make sure it’s all even.

I couldn’t stop laughing at these…If you’ve handprinted a baby or toddler before, you’re familiar with this two-person job. Little Man is rolling with it, though!

Look at those cute little handprints!

Time for the puffy paint and names. Puffy paint takes a long time to dry, but it’s the easiest to work with when it comes to lettering and tee shirts.

Adding the year was a nice touch.

I just love this project – what a fun memory the kids can wear and even when they grow out of the shirts they can make a canvas wrap out of it.
And if you’re not up to doing one for each kiddo, consider making a Christmas gift for the grandparents, like a footprint flower as one idea.
Happy summer crafting!
