Happy weekend! I realized it’s been almost a year and I never shared this chippy glam bed frame makeover! I got this bed frame from my grandmother around the same time my daughter needed to move out of her crib so it worked out perfectly. However, it was honey brown so it needed a little white paint makeover.
Unfortunately, I’m a bad blogger and didn’t take any before or process photos during this project because I was in a hurry to get my daughter into her big girl bed (which she currently won’t sleep in, but that’s another story), but this is basically what the frame looked like before I painted it.
That’s Kristin and Kacey from BB Frosch working some chalk paint powder spray magic at the Pinterest conference last year. They inspired me to spray the bed frame because I wasn’t sure about spending a ton of time hand painting that spindle situation!
My only concern was that I wanted a chippy glam look, and I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to achieve that spraying it, but it worked out!
I used Benjamin Moore Mountain Peak White + BB Frosch chalk paint powder and sprayed it. If you want a tutorial on how to spray furniture with chalk paint powder, I posted one at the end of this post.
Then I went back over it with a damp cloth and rubbed it down to the original wood. A couple times I got a little too aggressive and rubbed too much paint off, but I just repainted it and started it again.
Because her room has a lot of gold accents I decided to give it a little bit of gold and used the same gold metallic paint I used on her walls.
I was so happy with how it turned out, and it matched the room perfectly.
If you want to see the rest of her room, before she had her big girl bed, you can check it out here.
And if you like this idea, please pin and share with your friends!
