Have you ever stored baby shoes and when you finally pull them out they are too small? I hope someone else has done this besides me. It’s maddening, especially when they are really cute, so I’ve been determined to find ways to display accessories rather than store them.
But the shoe display part had stumped me for months, and I had almost given up and decided to just put them in a basket when this idea came to me. I was still in the idea-brewing phase when I got this fortune last Thursday night.
How cool is that? I conveniently had some time on Friday so I went to Home Depot to finalize and get the supplies.
I almost was going to build something myself, but then I ended up just buying an unfinished ledge at Hobby Lobby ($5.99 with my 40% off app coupon) and the mint paint and hooks at Home Depot. I have some other plans for the mint paint so I got a quart.
I started by drilling some holes for the hooks on the bottom of the ledge. The painter’s tape helped keep it all straight and measuring the space between the hooks was a bit of a pain, but I finally got my math straight. After drilling the holes, I painted three coats of the mint paint and two coats of sealant. Finally, I added the hooks and it was ready to hang!
A friend of mine suggested using this to hang necklaces. Such an awesome idea! I’m going to work on one for my closet, too.
